God bless you!
Laura Jean 4/21/2006 whew, where have I beenWell y'all, I discovered myspace. My little brother and dear friend Grace told me I should check it out...and...well...sorry. I really like it. I will keep adding entries here cause I can actually upload photos easily. Speaking of which....check out that Baskin Robins!! Yes, a drive through ice cream store!!! How lazy is America going to get??? Ok, well...if you want to check out my regularly updated blog...go to www.myspace.com/laura_jean_f and if you want to see my pictures...just come here. I love y'all and will see you soon!! Oh, the other photos are of the Westgate Theater in Beaverton. It was being destoyed and this was all that was left. 3/10/2006 Snow Day!!!Today was one of thoses days you just don't see in Portland. It snowed. There was 4 inches of snow on the ground when I woke up!! 4 inches. I will get some pictures up soon.
To all of you who get snow on a regular basis...try not to laugh. In Portland, a quarter inch is enough to shut highways, schools, bridges, and backroads so 4 full inches is pretty extrordinary!!
I was raised in Spokane where 2 feet was not uncommon and almost typical, but I will admit that in my nearly 9 years of being an Oregonian....I am alomost impressed with this scant amount of snow. Not scared, and certainly comfortable driving in it. So what impressed me, you might ask? In the 9 years I have lived here, every time the weather man even played with the idea that there might be a remote offside possibility of a chance of snow....every thing would shut down...no banks, post office, school, traffic (that's another story for another day). So with there being 4 inches of snow on the ground and still more falling from the sky, you would think that life in PDX came to a complete stand still? You would be wrong!!! I would be wrong!! Nothing closed down. No road closures. No school closures. Banks open. Mail man...not only was he present and accounted for - he was early!! And the traffic...oh the traffic. So, what impressed me was that after 9 years of me telling people..."it's just a little snow, poeple. Suck it up and get going"...they finally listened! 3/4/2006 Beautiful DayToday was just gorgeous. Since I promised that on the 1st beautiful day I would go out and take some pictures...here they are...just a couple, but it's something. The first is Mt Hood from just near my house. The second was a snapshot that I took while stopped at a light out at Hillsboro....near the Esplanade. (We were out getting some "Dutch Bros." coffee...yummy!!!!
They aren't the crearest pics in the world, but you get the point! 3/2/2006 Music at its bestWow, this has been a wonderfully productive day. I managed to develop harmonies for two of my previously written songs and came up with a couple entirely new melodies!! I am well on my way to getting my CD made. Tomorrow will be devoted to writing lyrics. I have one song for sure that is ready to be recorded and two that are really close. All the rest are "works in progress". Not bad for one week's work!
It is such a neat blessing to do what you love. I can be writing for several hours and feel as though only a few minutes have passed. I guess the hard part of this job is that I have to take a day off every once in a while!
I will continue to keep the site updated on my progress. 2/28/2006 Mostly for BJ, but you Disney fans are wellcome too! This picture is the back end of my car...I blocked the plate...
You will notice that on the left is a flag. That is the Norwegian flag. I have been studying Norwegian (Norsk) for a couple of years and have a great desire to go to Norway for a holiday. I have never been abroad, so the whole thing would be a grand adventure.
To the right is my "FISH". The greek letters stand for Jesus Christ God's Son Saviour. Every time I get a new vehicle, I get a new fish.
In the center, you will notice a missing plate. That's not the important part. If you look closer...the plate cover says Disney's Animal Kingdom. That was the location where I worked while in Florida. I have some wonderful memories of my time spent there.
None of this is all that important, I just like my car!!
2/27/2006 My dog spotOkay, I know it's weird, but my dog gets her own category. There isn't much to say about her today, but she is deffinately a character. Stay tuned, though, for the further adventures of my pet. |
